The fire prevention division is comprised of the Fire Investigations, Fire Inspectors Office, and the Public Education Prevention
Although the Inspectors have individual roles throughout the department, they work closely with each other and the Building and Planning Departments to complete each inspection. Inspections include sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, and life safety issues. The inspectors are also responsible for ensuring that businesses comply with the property maintenance codes.
Travis Myers is a certified Fire Inspector. He began his career with the Gatlinburg Fire Department in July 2005 and worked as a Firefighter/Paramedic until joining the Inspection Division in 2023. He conducts inspections on commercial properties and overnight rental properties to ensure they comply with the City's fire and life safety codes. He also responds to fire, rescue, and EMS emergencies as needed.
Donald Shropshire II is a certified Fire Inspector. Donald has been in emergency services for over 20 years. He joined the Gatlinburg Fire Department in January 2021 as a Firefighter/Paramedic and joined the Inspection Division in 2023. He performs inspections on the overnight rental properties within the City to ensure they comply with the adopted fire and life safety codes. He also responds to fire, rescue, and EMS emergencies as needed.
Fire Inspector Randall Lebron has been in the Fire/EMS service for 14 years and joined the Inspector's office in January 2023. Lebron is certified by the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance as a Fire Inspector 1. He is also certified as a Plans Examiner I, he has completed his Fire Inspector II series, and is also a licensed paramedic. His role in the Inspectors Division is to inspect overnight rental properties, commercial properties, and new construction to ensure that they comply with the City's fire codes and the proper safety equipment is in place. He also responds to fire, rescue and EMS emergencies as needed.
